About the Author

Richard Reid is Reader in the History of Africa at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He is the author of Political Power in Pre-Colonial Buganda: Economy, Society and Warfare in the Nineteenth Century (2002), War in Pre-Colonial Eastern Africa (2007), and Frontiers of Violence in Northeast Africa (2011), as well as numerous articles on the nineteenth- and twentieth-century history of east and northeast Africa.

Good academic approach

The book is very complete, with a lot of different types of electrical insulation for a lot of different applications. It covers almost everything in terms of insulation from low to high voltages. The approach gives the chemical, mechanical and electrical propreties, but it lacks on some practical approach. It is a more academic book, and contains few examples of application and tests (no photos at all). Besides that, it is a good book for developers, as could be useful for consulting different types of materials that can be used for electrical insulation applications.

Good Story, horible conversion to Kindle

It's a good story, shame it was so poorly converted to Kindle. Many misspelled words and as said before hyphens, offsets and font changes when there shouldn't be.

Great book, lousy transformation to Kindle

I love everything Maxim has written and have all his books in hardcopy. Bought the Kindle editions so I could take them with me easily, but the author and publisher, and Amazon, should be ashamed for the lousy job that was done producing the Kindle edition. Haven't yet checked the rest of my Maxim Kindle purchases but can only hope this one is an aberration. To charge more for the Kindle version than the paperback and produce a product with no cover art or TOC, nor the usual credit and other prefatory and concluding matter, and with so many missing words, incomplete words and paragraphs, font and formatting errors is inexcusable. The ebook is well nigh unreadable and sure to turn off a reader new to Maxim's work. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was converted to Kindle using a third-rate OCR conversion product from a hardcopy edition. Certainly no human edited the ebook before it was put on sale. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!!

I am addicted to John Maxim in general and his Bannerman series in particular. They are my candy, escapism and what if all rolled into one. Who hasn't dreamed of having a completely safe haven where one has friends who will keep you totally safe no matter what; where one can pick up on a moments notice, fly off to exotic places and blow away the bad guys. That is exactly what John Maxim creates. Bannerman and his people are the essence of a group of people who take care of their own no matter what. For an evening of enjoyable light reading try any of John Maxims books and in particular his Bannerman series -- you won't be sorry.
