Very highly recommended read.

This is a powerful and worthwhile read. You owe it to yourself and family to read it. Very well written, filled with documented facts, and a real eye-opener. I suggest you read the book description for a broader look at what's in this read. We are exposed to dangerous EMF's, EFM's, and more, each and every day. Cell phones, smart meters, electronic devices including our TV's, home wiring, nearby power transformers, on and on. The list just keeps growing every year. The health dangers are NOT revealed to us in any way by the power companies or government. As usual, just another cover up in the interests of profit and what's good for them. From migranes, to cancers, to ADD, and hundreds of other problems. This book not only explains, it gives us ways to do testing ourselves with meters, and gives solid suggestions on what we each can do. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Less than 80 pages of reading, written in 2013, well worth your time.

Lots of info to increase awareness and taking steps to reduce exposure

About 20 years ago, I took some EMF/EMR readings in my apartment. Baseboard heaters, TV, microwave—I was surprised at the readings. I have a lot more electronics in my home and life and this book gave me info about their fields and recommended exposure levels. Yikes! What an eye-opener! Thankfully, the book also gives good links and suggestions to reduce exposure.

Discipline is lacking ..this book can help all parents

Wow..reading the past reviews you would think Dr. Dobson doesn't have any clue of how to handle a child when they are young. My wife and I read this book before we raised out two kids. Abuse and violence, are not adjectives to use in describing Dr. Dobson's book. This book helped us raise our children with love and respect. One comment in the book was to make sure after the discipline you choose to use on your child was to make sure you talked about the behavior and not the child and to hug them and tell them you love them before you end your talk. Abuse and violence doesn't covet those actions. The issue we have today is that every discipline action is considered violent or abuse. Give me a break. My kids didn't need any discipline after their formative years because they "got it". Not out of fear but respect. Big difference people. I strongly recommend this book for all parents. I am a junior high teacher and have been for 20+ years...simple discipline in my classroom is a way of showing my students I care about them. Amazing how they respond. If you didn't need to use discipline on your kids then consider yourself blessed.

My parents followed this abusive philosophy & I had to run away at 16

Sadly, my parents read this book and followed Dr. Dobson's abusive philosophy. I first attempted to escape my home at 14, then ran away for good at 16.

I have vivid, horrible memories of my punishments, and it was only years and several therapists later that I understood my parents did love me. They were just extremely misguided about how to show it- thanks in great part to this book.

My heart breaks for and other survivors of parents that fell for this book's message.

Children need responsive Parents

Based on Dr Dobson's opinions, not science. He actually suggests when your baby cries, you should not respond imediately, but wait in the doorway for a few minutes. Current science says that this will actually cause anxiety in the child. Also, with the amount of violence in our culture, I don't think parents really need permission to hit their kids.

The virtues of clear thinking

It seems like a straightforward question: Why aren't we doing what we know we should be doing? The answer to this question, it would seem, should be both simple and complex; this book's main virtue is that it provides both. Their unblinking examinations of so many obvious and ridiculous screw-ups and mess-ups of all kinds makes the simple foolishness of it all so completely apparent (this collection of examples alone is well worth the cost of admission). But then again (thankfully), they don't oversimplify their discussion of the full range of the "human and organizational frailties" that we've all learned to know and love, and that are at the source of these kinds of problems.
If you want a hand-holding spoon-feeding checklist, look elsewhere. The authors show specifically why this kind of "checklist" attitude is a BIG part of the problem (notice how the summaries they provide at the end of each section pull together their main points nicely without oversimplifying them). However if you're looking for a guide to help you to actually think your way through these kinds of problems, as they beset you in your organizational life (and possibly in your personal life), then this is a definite "must read."
For these reasons (and both because of and in spite of its critique of MBA education practices), this book will become definite required reading in our core management course.

The main premise of this book as the authors best summarize it is: "Why knowledge of what needs to be done frequently fails to result in action or behavior consistent with that knowledge. We came to call this the knowing-doing problem - the challenge of turning knowledge about how to enhance organizational performance into actions consistent with that knowledge. This book presents what we learned about the factors that contribute to the knowledge doing gap and why and how some organizations are more successful than others in implementing their knowledge."

The book then analyzes the reasons and causes of this gap through numerous examples and presents eight main recommendations: "Eight Guidelines for Action: 1) Why before How: Philosophy Is Important 2) Knowing Comes from Doing and Teaching Others How. 3) Action Counts More Than Elegant Plans and Concepts. 4) There Is No Doing without Mistakes. What Is the Company's Response? 5) Fear Fosters Knowing-Doing Gaps, So Drive Out Fear. 6) Beware of False Analogies: Fight the Competition, Not Each Other. 7) Measure What Matters and What Can Help Turn Knowledge into Action. 8) What Leaders Do, How They Spend Their Time and How They Allocate Resources, Matters."

A very applicable, educational and action oriented book. One that echoes the fundamentals of execution and its importance as the ultimate benchmark of success. A must read in the area of management!

Otherwise, firms are readily trapped by their history, even if, or particularly if, that history has many positive elements in it, as Saturn's does."

6- "It is clear to us that merely knowing what measurement practices should be used does not, by itself, cause leaders to implement measures that produce intelligent, mindful, learning behavior rather than the reverse."

8- "As Dean Tjosvold, a researcher and writer on the subject of competition and cooperation, noted, "Competition stimulates, excites, and is useful in some circumstance, but those situations do not occur frequently in organizations, and the widespread use of competition cannot be justified.""

You Know a Tree by it's Fruit

You Know a Tree by it's Fruit and there is no question in my heart that Rev. Hagin loved the Lord and the Word of God. I believe if you need direction in your understanding of the scriptures you should pray and read the bible as often as you can and attend a local church on a regular basis. You should also read ANY of Rev. Hagin's books. I believe the LORD will bless you.

Great Insight

This book is all that it says it is. I have been reading parts of it to friends over the phone. Mr. Hagin was a great writer. The book agrees with the Bible and brings out things you don't think of.
