the beginning bowyers goldmine

If, like me, you find yourself searching the internet endlessly for articles on making longbows, composite bows and everything in between, then look no further. Together, the three volumes in this set would have to be among, if not THE the most valuable texts on making archery tackle that there is.
The photographs are in black and white, but they are excellent quality, and often appear within the well bound covers. Detailed illustrations also accompany the well thought out and clearly presented text. A lot of thought went into the production of these books, and I must say that the effort payed off.
Living in another country and studying with no job, I had to save every bit of loose change I had for about 18 months to get these books, and they were worth every cent.
I recommend these three books to all who aspire to one day loose arrows from their own hand crafted weapons of antiquity.

A great series of books for traditional archers

For those interested in making traditional bows these books come highly recommended. The instructions are simple enough for beginners, and detailed enough that experienced bowyers can learn several new techniques, a rare quality in many "how to" books. Explained very well are the theory's or why's behind the instruction.

This volume, # 2 explains bow construction from boards, recurve bows, composite bows, bow strings from natural and manufactured materials, bending wood, steel points, and quivers. Bows from ancient Europe, and the eastern woodlands are studied and explained in detail. Chapters written on hints, shortcuts, and shooting accuracy improvement are also very valueable. The chapter on board bows was worth the price of the book by itself, as I am unable to cut bow staves from trees.

excellent detail but incomplete

This book is written by several experts and is essentially a compilation of individual articles, each of which is outstanding in the detail of the direction given. However, for a person seeking to make a particular bow, all 3 books of the series are needed and there is not an orderly progression. Just count on buying all three, reading them all, making decisions based on what you've learned, and then picking chapters to help you as you go along.

This is a very short book that gives some decent ...

This is a very short book that gives some decent information on why twin flames run, but in order to really get the information you want on this subject, you have to buy the author's program on this subject, which is extremely pricey. This book isn't really worth the buy unless you have the money to buy her program.

Short but interesting. Goes into six fears that cause primarily male twin flames to run for the hills. The main problem being the restrictions imposed by society on the concept of manliness which emphasizes logic and denigrates feelings. Therefore when encountering the extreme feelings engendered by a twin soul connection, the impulse is to create distance or even flee. The book gives some attention on the women who chase after them and their issues and the problems this causes. Again interesting but not in depth, no description of a twin flame connection, no indication of where this information is coming from. Did the author experience this; know people with these problems; have channeled information; researched this? What makes the author a expert and where is this coming from?

This doesn't mean that this booklet is wrong or bad. Merely that more information is needed.

I really appreciate this book. Some of the other reviews mentioned that they felt this book was short. Well.. I just feel that he content it does have is well worth the price and the reading of it. I very much appreciate this book and some of its content. It can be a very sad time, when this happens in a person's life. This book has been uplifting and I appreciate the knowledge and compassion with in it.

Excellent Reference

I needed a reference guide for Quicken 2004. After purchasing the Dummies version, this book is by far the better text. It provides clear, concise information with screen shots for all aspects of Quicken 2004 including items you may not know about. (Records Organizer Household Organizer!) Those were not mentioned in the other text. She gives suggestions for how to set up your files the way that you want. I highly recommend this book whether you are an expert or just beginning. It is well worth the price!

About the Author
David W. Carroll received a B. A. in psychology and philosophy from the University of California at Davis (1972) and an M.A. (1973) and Ph.D. (1976) in experimental and developmental psychology from Michigan State University. He has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Superior since 1976. He is currently is professor of psychology and previously served as chair of the psychology program. Dr. Carroll teaches courses in introductory psychology, psychology of language, cognitive psychology, and child development, and conducts research on discourse comprehension, critical thinking, and the teaching of psychology. He is a member of the Society for Text and Discourse, the Division of Experimental Psychology, the American Psychological Society, the Society for General Psychology, and the Society for Teaching of Psychology.

Well written? Clearly Written?

This book was the most obtuse piece of crap I've ever tried to read--and I'm a philosophy major!
The opacity with which it was written astounded me from cover to cover. The definition section is totally useless; were the definitions clearly presented, one might be able to integrate the information into the chapters and sections,and thereby extract some useful information from the book. As it stands, this is not possible.

Please do not buy this book if you intend to use it as an aid in a psy. of language class.

extremely frustrating

This Kindle version is almost useless as a textbook. There are no location markers. The student has no way to find relevant material except to search page by page, endlessly pushing the forward button.
The figures in the book are not marked or searchable, so they're not available even under a direct know-what-word-you're looking-for search. I saved money by getting theKindle version and I'm very sorry that I did. Studying for exams or just trying to find your place in a previous location is more trouble than it's worth. I usually have to find another student with a printed version of the text to find the information I need. I'm very unhappy with the purchase and will never get a textbook from this company again in a Kindle version.
